CONCRETE HOUSE 1

TORQUAY, VICTORIA

New residence - under construction

This insitu concrete house is composed of a series of planes. A portal opening marks the entry through the concrete facade, concealing a concealed walled garden before the house proper. The plan wraps around a grassed north facing courtyard, giving privacy from the golf course, allowing light and breezes to move through the house and providing a green outlook from all habitable rooms. Roof gardens on the upper level are planted out with native grasses and groundcovers to increase connection to the landscape. Each floor rests on slender columns, the fine lines counterpointing the natural mass of the concrete. Hardwood louvred panels and brass detailing throughout provide patterning and warmth.
